Podcast: Representing African Countries in Illustrations

When Elizabeth Zunon was growing up in Côte d’Ivoire, she sometimes saw images of people from African countries that did not match her reality. So today, she creates the kind of characters that are familiar to her – warm, beautiful people from different countries and cultures.

In this episode, we discuss Zunon’s early childhood while also discussing how and why she illustrates characters to which she connects. You can find a full list of Zunon’s book, including her upcoming Granpda Cacao, at her website.
